Petits Filous

Find out why Petits Filous is a great choice for your kids. Our networkers talk about why they love Petits Filous. It counts as one dairy serving, which means it provides at least ONE THIRD of their child’s daily calcium needs.

Did you know that around 90% of bone strength is set in childhood and adolescence? We all know that a varied diet and active lifestyle are essential for healthy kids, so make sure your kids are also getting the calcium they need with Petits Filous from Yoplait.

Kids need calcium, along with a healthy diet and lifestyle, to develop strong teeth and bones. But as most mums know, it's not always easy to get them to eat things that are good for them.

Why is calcium so important?

As part of a healthy diet and lifestyle, calcium is essential to strengthen bones. Our bodies cannot make calcium so we have to rely on the calcium in our diet to meet all our daily needs. And as bone is constantly renewing itself, we need to follow an active lifestyle, eat a varied balanced diet and ensure we top up with calcium every day. Strong bones in childhood and adolescence are the best foundations for our future bone health.

Which foods contain calcium?

You might be surprised to learn that foods like sesame seeds, some nuts, white and brown bread and oily fish with soft bones all contain calcium. It's even in fortified soya drinks and tofu! But dairy foods such as milk, yoghurt, fromage frais and cheese are the main source of calcium in our diets here in the UK, and the body finds it easy to absorb calcium from these foods..

How much calcium do kids need?

Children need different amounts of calcium depending on their age. A mixed and balanced diet should provide them with enough calcium. Under the age of 1 year, breast milk or formula milk will provide all their needs, but past the age of one, your little rascal will need to start relying on the foods they eat. An easy way to meet daily calcium needs is through 3 servings of dairy – cheese, milk and yogurt – every day.

How can I boost their calcium intake?

It's easy to make changes to their everyday diet so they get all the calcium they need – try a glass of milk at breakfast, a portion of cheese in their sandwich at lunch and a pot of Petits Filous after dinner. Simple! Plus Petits Filous fromage frais also contain vitamin D which helps the body absorb calcium more easily.

How can I make eating dairy products more interesting?

Nobody wants the same foods day in, day out. Kids love variety, which is why they'll appreciate the delicious range of flavours from Petits Filous. They're available in Strawberry, Raspberry and Apricot flavours, plus they come in small pots and big pots so there's something to suit everyone.

How much calcium is in Petits Filous?

One big pot of Petits Filous (or two small pots) can count as one of their three daily servings of dairy as it provides them with at least one third of recommended calcium intake for 1-10 year olds in the UK. That's one serving of dairy and a third of the day's calcium taken care of, just like that!

1 x 100g pot Petits Filous = 249mg calcium
2 x 60g pots Petits Filous = 299mg calcium

Yoplait's goodness guarantee

Yoplait Petits Filous contain none of the lumpy fruit bits that kids often dislike. Even better, they contain no artificial colours or sweeteners, no added preservatives and are gluten free, so you know they're getting just what they need – the delicious taste of fruit and the goodness of calcium. They're also suitable for vegetarians.

Look out for Petits Filous in the chiller cabinet of your supermarket.

My 5 year old loves Petits Filous. She has been known to eat three in the one day she also likes you to add some more fruit. Imogens favorite is any yogurt that has strawberries so I know that is why she loves it the most. Also like one of the other ladys child she likes it frozen and making it into an ice lollie. I also like that she loves them because I know that she is getting more calcium.

Lovely to get kids eating muesli. I put a spoonful into Petits Filous and mix thoroughly. Yummy even for mums on the go. Good energy food. I also put in the freezer the night before using them, then into packed lunch box in morning.

My 8 month old little old is so excited when she sees the little pot of Petits Filous! She is such a fussy eater but when it comes to this, she’s a little angel. At least I know shes getting some goodness.
